Be prepared!
Heading into the backcountry for a day hike or for a few nights, it’s important to be prepared. From changing weather to food supply and all the in-between it’s important to have the necessary gear and know how to use it. Here’s our list of must have items.
• Bear spray • First aid kit • A Garmin or some sort of GPS system • Map (paper or digital) • Water and water filtration system • Proper footwear and a pair of sandals if staying overnight • Lots of high calorie foods • Pocket knife or multitool • Extra clothes • Sunscreen & bug spray • A hat and sunglasses
If staying overnight • A tent • Sleeping bag • Sleeping pad • Backpacking stove or a way to boil water • Flashlight • Dehydrated meals or easy pack and go foods • Ziploc bag to put our garbage in. It’s important to pack out everything you packed in
