The Log Barn 1912 In 1912, just outside of a small farming town known as Armstrong, a Mennonite family started selling their produce from a small log barn. Realizing soon after that people would travel a great distance to buy their produce, then stay to visit with the animals, the grand idea of what The Log Barn is today came into fruition. In 2006 the Log Barn started to sell baked good, old fashioned sausages, cheeses, pies and more. Many recipes coming from the Mennonite Cookbooks used daily with their own families. Today the Log Barn is an attraction for tourist passing through the area. Customers enjoy the large fruit and produce section, bakery, meat and cheeses, accompanies by an ice cream parlor and gift shop. Satisfy your tummies by licking your ice cream, visiting with the goats and wandering about cool artifacts form the past. Plus, some very impressive life size dinosaur statues. Do we need to say more?!
Farmstrong Cider Looking for somewhere different to eat? Maybe try some local cider? Farmstrong is a family owned, third generation, working farm. It started as a small poultry farm and has been expanding ever since. Not only do they provide exceptional cider, they have a full restaurant of local, farm to table, wholesome meals. An old barn with an expansive roof has been beautifully renovated into one of the coolest restaurants in the Shuswap area. Snuggle up on the long church pews, under a cozy knit blanket and enjoy a culinary experience you would expect at a fine-dining restaurant.
Caravan Farm Theatre Caravan farm Theatre is a not-for-profit professional outdoor theatre company located on 80 acres near Armstrong BC. First established in the 1970’s, Caravan Farm Theatre has transitioned from a travelling performance to one of the largest outdoor theatres in North America. In the 90’s winter shows were added to the performance list and is now part of many families Christmas Traditions. Be pulled by horse drawn carriage or sleigh to different stages around the farm while you transition from scene to scene. If you are looking for something different to do, Caravan farm Theatre should be on the list!
CC Bloom Flower Festivals and Farmers markets Located just off Hwy 97B, leaving Enderby heading to Armstrong, CC Bloom is a newer flower market, and private or public event rental space. Specialising in creating each flower arrangement unique to the purchaser, Farm owner Candice, says flowers have been her source of creativity and inspiration since she was a child. Be sure to check out there summer and love LOVE markets as well as ticketed long table dinners.
Armstrong Outdoor Pool All community members and surrounding communities enjoy the outdoor pool in Armstrong. Take part in regular scheduled swimming lessons or drop-in public swim and count how many times you can zoom down the red slide. The Armstrong pool is a social hub for families during the summer months. Nothing like small town outdoor pool to scream SUMMER in the Shuswap.
